You’ve earned a vacation fit for a king, so why not stay in a palace? Riu Palace Riviera Maya, an all-inclusive resort for singles and families, crowns the shores of the Mayan Riviera. Recently awarded AAA Four-Diamond Award, Riu Palace Riviera Maya is the newest member of the Riu Resort complex. This extraordinary resort features 400 Junior Suites with hydro-massage tubs, mini bars and liquor dispensers, as well as 24-hour room service and full access to the sister resorts in the complex.

Seven people in our family went on this trip. It was a 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Our travels were smooth and the Riu Palace Riviera Maya was exceptional. Service was great. Cleanliness and beauty was abundant. The spacious grounds and the Palace itself made life comfortable and no hassle. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this vacation. It was great, and we’re all still crowing about the fun.

With two pools, Riu Palace Riviera Maya guests can frolic in the main pool which has a swim-up bar, and the kids can splash to their heart’s delight in a kids pool. Wannabe divers can enjoy a scuba demonstration in the main pool. Once you’re up to speed on underwater breathing, head a short distance south to dive the famous Mayan Riviera cenotes. These intricate, freshwater holes in vast, cave networks allow divers to explore watery caverns, nearly obsolete in other parts of the world. For you saltwater peeps, have no fear: just off the coast sits the massive underwater complexities of the Great Mayan Reef, the second-largest coral-reef network in the world.

As the latest addition to the Riu family in Playa del Carmen, this luxurious property sets the ultimate in pampering first class service. The elegant Hotel Riu Palace Riviera Maya is a winner of AAA`s coveted 4-Diamond Award for its excellent service and upscale accommodations.

Palatial inside and out, this hotel certainly lives up to its regal name.

I just returned from a trip to Riu Palace Riviera Maya. All i can say is WOW !!!!! This palace was Amazing! The grounds where beautiful and so clean. The staff was always cleaning it did not matter what time of day or night you always seen somebody cleaning. The pool was amazing !!! The food was delicious at the buffet and at the restaurants. The beach was AWESOME AND OH SO BEAUTIFUL !!!!!

Reminiscent of an Indian Maharajah’s palace, this hotel is all whitewashed domes, grand pinnacles and elegant porticoes. What’s more, it’s framed by gently swaying palm trees and ornate courtyard pools. The piece de resistance, however, has to be the gorgeous beachfront setting.

Moving closer, the wide spreading sun terraces are worth a mention, too. Fringed by shady palms, they circle the big cruciform pool. And not only is there an adjoining whirlpool and a swim-up bar, but there are partially submerged sunbeds in the water, completing a very stylish pool scene.

Inside, the Riu Palace Riviera Maya continues to impress. Tall columns, gleaming marble floors and sparkling chandeliers create a palatial reception area. All our guests stay in plush junior suites where dark polished wood and pale décor is worked to great effect. And they come with hydro-massage bath tubs and living areas with TVs and sofas as standard. Better still, free room service is included.

My wife and i spent two weeks at this superb All Inclusive Hotel in November. We were very impressed with the hospitality. The choice of restaurants and variety and qualiy of food was very good, as was the service provided in all of them. The bar staff were equally attentative and nothing seemed to be a problem. Service with a smile, polite and courteous and a determination to please. All areas of the hotel were clean and tidy and well maintained, no litter anywhere, not even in the surrounding environment outside the hotel. Rooms are quite spacious and those with views overlooking the courtyard are probably better located than those overlooking other hotels.

Food-wise, it’s 5-star service all the way. A glass of Cava at breakfast to accompany a made-to-order omelette is a good way to start the day. Come dinner time there are five speciality restaurants to choose from.

And as with all RIU hotels, the entertainment is first class, with nightly shows and live music on the programme.

Room Tip: We had booked a Junior suite but we were given a Suite instead. The Junior suites are adequate and the ones overlooking the hotel center area and pool have the best views. Our room looked toward the ocean and had a big balcony. During our stay we were upgraded to a Jacuzzi Suite. The view of the ocean was excellent and my son and granddaughter loved the hot tub.
