This Delightful resort has recently been refurbished and taken over by the RIU Chain. Offers an incredibly relaxing -casual atmosphere perfect for families, couples and Golf lovers.Ideally located next to the Golf Club Playacar Robert Von Hagger design. This resort in villa-style building offers 35,000 M2 surrounding of quiet lush tropical forest.
A little smaller than its neighbouring hotels, the Riu Lupita gives Mexican holidays the personal touch.
Surrounded by tropical gardens and separated from the rest of Playacar by a well-tended golf course, this complex has a real away-from-it-all feel. But that’s not to say it’s cut off. The white sands and clear waters of Mexico’s Caribbean coast are just a 15-minute drive away – and there’s a complimentary shuttle bus that runs throughout the day.
This hotel has plenty to offer. Take the pool scene for starters. There’s a large rectangular pool complete with partially submerged sunbeds, plus a smaller, circular pool. A poolside bar completes the scene, while in the gardens beyond you’ll find hammocks strung between the palms.
Inside, they’ve kept things refreshingly simple. The bedrooms are spacious and light, with in-room extras like a minibar, liquor dispensers and air-conditioning.
Last but not least, there’s the restaurant to consider. It’s a thatched-roof, open-air affair, with everything served up buffet-style. There’s a separate à la carte Mexican eatery, too.
First off the staff deserve a hats off! They work so hard and ALWAYS have a smile on their face! Even the director was amazing. The food was good, drinks were great, place was clean, private beach club was really nice too. My advice is to plan your own trips off the resort its cheaper and way more fun! I have nothing bad to say about my experience here! You won’t regret it!

We just got back from here. At first sight I was a little disappointed, it looked a little tired, like all older, hotels do, but once we settled in, I can’t say enough about how great it was. The room was basic but very clean – the maids do a great job. The entertainment staff worked tirelessly to make sure you had a good time. We loved it at the Riu Lupita, it’s not on the beach but has 2 pools and a shuttle to take you to Playa Del Carmen and the other Riu hotels in the area. Room Tip: We stayed in 1513, great location close to everything except the disco, which was good, not noisy.
