Dreaming of a tropical rainforest without the pith helmet and hardcore excursion into the Amazon? Riu Ocho Rios Resort in Jamaica is a gorgeous Caribbean resort that’ll fit your style perfectly. It’s the perfect place to see the mighty jungle from the comfort of a modern resort.
Amidst its tropical locale, Riu Ocho Rios definitely stands out with its purple exterior. But there are other colorful features here. The two large pools have swim-up bars – which means you can have pina coladas all day without ever getting off your float. If you do want to cut loose, Riu Ocho Rios’ friendly staff leads playful contests and activities to amp up the fun. If the call of the wild beckons you to explore the ocean, you can prep for adventure with a free introductory scuba lesson in the resort’s pool. Regardless of whether you’re relaxing or raring to go, you’ll enjoy the background sounds of waterfalls in the distance.
While groups and couples kick it up at Riu Ocho’s larger pools, families and kids can splash around in the children’s pool. The staff also puts on daily entertainment programs for the little ones too. Even better, the resort’s private beach has calm and shallow water, so parents with small children have peace of mind.
This hotel was wonderful. The staff was friendly and helpful. There were eight bars and five specialty restaurant s to choose from. Also there was a pool on one side that had more activities going on and then a quieter pool on the opposite side. Great hotel, highly recommended!

All in all we had an absolute blast. Pleasantly surprised by the amount of staff cleaning at all times of the day and the beverage selection was great. As for food we were happy with the selection and the variety at nights (Mexican night etc…) We went to Mammie bay, Sir Johns and the asian restaurants. All we very good and considering my sweetie is not a sea food lover she found plenty of alternatives. The entertainment staff… Second to none and the shows although got a little tiresome were worth sticking around for. The room was typical for travelling. Clean but again another hard bed. We found very tiny bugs in the room but cleared them up with some sugar water in a cup. The beach and the snorkelling right off the beach we’re awesome. You’ll always found a good place to soak in some sun. All in all great trip. We’d be hard pressed not to go back!
